    фінансовий показник, що встановлює відношення загальної суми зобов'язань (total liabilities) до акціонерного капіталу (shareholders' equity); має таку формулу підрахунку:
    debt-equity ratio = total liabilities ÷ shareholders' equity
    ♦ за цим коефіцієнтом визначається стан заборгованості підприємства; чим нижче значення коефіцієнта, тим кращий фінансовий стан та платоспроможність (solvency) підприємства; він свідчить про те, наскільки підприємство покладається на позичковий капітал (debt finance) для фінансування своєї діяльності
